Rashanna is an Advocacy & Civic Engagement Strategist at the Equality Federation. In this role, Rashanna tracks relevant legislation to identify trends, manages the deployment of resources to state partners, and provides our partners with electoral support to help them build power in their communities.
Rashanna received a Master of Arts in Women’s Studies from San Diego State University where she got her start as an organizer, working with the San Diego Democratic Party to increase voter turnout among college students. Later, she would go on to lead demonstrations against state sanctioned violence following the murder of George Floyd.
Prior to joining the team, Rashanna ran the field program for a city council candidate in Harlem before going on to work at a national reproductive rights organization, focused on securing Medicaid coverage for abortion care.
With your support, we'll be able to continue our work to build the leaders of today and tomorrow, strengthen state-based LGBTQ+ organizations, and make critical progress on the issues that matter most—like protecting transgender people, ending HIV criminalization and ensuring access to care, and banning conversion therapy across the country.
