In 2012, the Equality Federation sharpened our focus on winning in the communities we call home. And our members proved once again: change is possible everywhere.

Three successful campaigns to win marriage at the ballot -- and another winning campaign to defeat an amendment. Dozens of amazing gains in local nondiscrimination policies. Huge advances in efforts to keep our most vulnerable young people in school and thriving.

Every year, Equality Federation is proud to be the movement builder and strategic partner to state-based organizations advancing equality for LGBT people. During a historic 2012, we concentrated our work in three key areas: building leaders, strengthening the states, and advancing critical issues.

Through this work, the Federation team:

  • Welcomed 5 new Executive Directors to the state-based movement -- providing them with mentoring and support through our New Executive Director Boot Camp and one-on-one coaching.
  • Hosted our annual Summer Meeting with 112 attendees.
  • Helped 15 state-based organizations secure critical financial support from the State Equality Fund.
  • Offered guidance, expertise, and strategy in the search for Executive Directors of 10 state-based advocacy organizations.

Our work in 2012 helped build a strong movement for equality across this country -- and the momentum we’ve seen is unstoppable.

Federation members are winning day by day, community by community. Click here to learn how.

2013 has built on 2012’s unprecedented gains -- and we’ve been right there with our members every step of the way, winning in the communities we call home.
