Mobilize the Immigrant Vote (MIV) is a California alliance of organizations advancing the broader movement for social change by building immigrant voting power. MIV strategies include building the capacity of community-based organizations working with New American and immigrant communities of color to educate and mobilize their constituents to vote; linking these efforts with ongoing community organizing; shaping the debate on immigrant civic participation; and developing models for collaboration.

MIV launched its work in 2004 as the first-ever multi-ethnic, immigrant-based coalition building electoral capacity of community-based organizations in California. Mobilize the Immigrant Vote is a non-partisan charitable organization and is affiliated with the MIV Action Fund.

We currently have an opening for a full-time Data Strategist and Technical Assistance Manager. This position supports MIV partners to engage in MIV campaigns and to build their capacity for civic engagement efforts. This position works with dynamic partner organizations serving multiethnic constituencies in six-plus languages throughout the state. Join our team!

RESPONSIBILITIES

MIV works with a core of 10-20 partner organizations and affiliate groups who run 6-20 weeks of multi-pronged phone, canvass and communications campaigns per year. This position leads data strategies for all MIV campaigns and provides technical assistance to all MIV partners.

1)  Data Strategist for MIV Campaigns (Approx. 45% FTE)

  • ‚ÄãSupport accurate and best use of PDI and other data technologies by partner organizations and assist with troubleshooting
  • Work with MIV Political Director and campaign leads to identify performance trends and recommend data and program adjustments based on those trends
  • During campaigns, produce daily and weekly reports to track work completed and progress to goal
  • Lead MIV staff in evaluating the quantitative performance of the overall program
  • Synthesize data and reports to tell a compelling story about our constituencies and campaign wins
  • Stay abreast of new technology, approaches, and innovations to make electoral work more effective; make recommendations on how to integrate into campaigns
  • Work closely with Political Director to give input and feedback on campaign planning and execution

2) Capacity Building and Technical Assistance (50% FTE)

  • Lead Data and Technology Technical Assistance program:
  • ‚ÄãWork with partners to set up hardware and software infrastructure including phone banks, predictive dialers, patch-through calling, and other systems
  • Ongoing assessment, training and technical assistance to co-create data and technology capacity-building goals and plans for core MIV partners and larger MIV network
  • Coordinate trainings on PDI and other data technologies
  • One-on-one hardware and software coaching and technical assistance to partner groups’ campaign staff
  • Lead annual multi-day Data Boot Camp for partner organizations
  • Work closely with MIV Deputy Director and Political Director to ensure success of technical assistance program

3) Other Responsibilities/Administration (5% FTE)

  • Coordinate logistics for quarterly statewide meetings
  • Other administrative support as needed

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3 years experience setting up and maintaining hardware and software for electoral campaigns including PDI, predictive dialers, and online voter database required
  • 3 years electoral campaign experience preferred at state or national scale, as well as training/coaching
  • Strategic thinker with ability to take initiative in driving strategies and overcoming obstacles. Problem solver and risk taker.
  • Roots in community organizing, grassroots electoral campaigns and coalition building a plus
  • Experience and commitment to working with low-income immigrant communities of color and on immigrant issues
  • Must have a car and current driver’s insurance; willingness to travel frequently, within California and nationally
  • Excellent skills in working with diverse individual and organizational cultures, interpersonal communication, political analysis and strategy, research, writing and public speaking
  • Strong work planning, budget management experience and attention to detail
  • Flexible and team-oriented approach to problem-solving
  • Familiarity with 501c3, 501c4 and PAC structures
  • Bilingual or multi-lingual language skills preferred
