Louisiana Religious Freedom Bill: Majority of State Residents Are Opposed, According to Poll

A majority of state residents oppose the passage of the controversial religious freedom bill that could allow businesses to refuse services to same-sex marriage ceremonies.

That’s according to a new statewide poll released by Southern Media & Opinion Research Inc. on Tuesday (May 12), which interviewed 600 likely voters in Louisiana between May 5 and May 9. Because likely voters tend to be older and more conservative in Louisiana, the poll’s results reflect the views of a more right-leaning segment of the state’s population.
