Houston, Texas Passes Nondiscrimination Ordinance

Houston, the nation’s fourth largest city, passed an ordinance extending equal rights protections to LGBT residents. The final vote was 11-6. Four other cities in Texas have passed similar ordinances. Read more about this victory at The Houston Chronicle.

Repeal Effort Fails in Pocatello

An attempt to repeal Pocatello’s city ordinance, which prohibits employment, housing and other forms of discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity, failed at ballot. The ordinance was originally passed by voters in June 2013. A slim majority voted to keep the law on the books. Read more at Boise Weekly.
